It took 6 minutes to load the recovery up. So I rebooted with command-R and the computer booted and showed a globe for the apple recovery. So eventually I decided to go back to mac OSX. It was still doing some weird stuff like. Then had problems with sound drivers, they didn't work right either. Had to change some settings in the power options to get it to stop being too dim.

The brightness up and down weren't working.

Then I had issues with the keyboard unless if the bootcamp applet was loaded. The Netflix app wouldn't work without new video drivers. Had to install the nvidia drivers to be able to use some apps. Then to get the touch pad not to be annoying i changed a registry setting to disable tap to click. Which didn't completely work because it couldn't see the mac partition. Installed windows 8, (should have installed 7 then upgraded to 8, if you don't go in this order then you will have to call microsoft when their tech support is available.) Once i got windows 8 installed i was able to install bootcamp. Eventually after some fiddling I got all the partitions, off. so i had to change some of them in Fdisk guid partitions were marked as non deletable. Windows couldn't remove some of the partitions. Removed every partition, so yes it was scary (wasn't totally sure restoring mac OSX would work). Used the bootcamp windows install usb disk to completely format and remove all mac partitions.
